Good Skincare is a “Habit”

Clients ask me all the time “How can I get good Skin”. Every morning when I jump out of bed (maybe not jump) and hop into the shower, the first thing I do is cleanse my skin, this is the start of my skincare habit.

I don’t even think about it…It’s just habit….Thank goodness I have one good habit – my skincare routine!

Most of my clients say

“I just don’t have time to look after my skin”,

“I’m too busy with the kids”

“I’m too tired”

“I want to look after my skin but I couldn’t be bothered”

I say…… “Make it a habit”…. good skincare is a habit.

Let’s think about what we do on a daily basis, everyday…. you wouldn’t walk out the door without cleaning your teeth or applying deodorant on. Two basic things we do everyday without thinking about it.

I guess for me being a Beauty Therapist, looking after my skin is a must! My face is my laboratory, all products are tried and tested on my face and body. I love finding new and result driven product to add to my skincare HABIT.

When I was younger I hardly ever tried products on my skin I just kept it basic, cleanser, toner and moisturiser…. oh and sunblock on weekends but then things started to change…No, not wrinkles….(not then anyway) dark circles and pigmentation were my first signs of change. I was 27yrs old…….

Oh My God I’m getting old was my first reaction, I had to find the products to help my issues with my skin and change skincare habits to suit what was needed.

With many of us, our skin was not meant to live in Australia. We come from far and wide backgrounds and unfortunately for many of us the Aussie climate is what causes superficial problems,

Couperose (fine red capillaries or veins on our cheeks)
Excessive oil
Dehydration or dryness
Worst still is the ageing process
Here in Australia we age much earlier than our European or Asian friends. When our Northern hemisphere friends are in their 30’s their skin looks firm and toned with minimum lines but for us beach loving, pool happy, Aussie BBQ goers. We are exposed everyday summer and winter all year round. Our 30’s is the age of maybe a European 40′s, YES – I said 40! “Don’t you hate that?”

Don’t be put off or despondent there are easy steps you can take to prevent your skin from age acceleration.

To slow the ageing process…..It comes down to habit, Habit and HABIT…skincare habit!
